Which number is a solution of the inequality? x(7 – x) > 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about 3? 4? 5? Turns out, that inequality holds for x > 1 and x < 6 (assuming x is integer)

Directrix (directrix):

Would that be the intersection of those sets or their union?

Directrix (directrix):

Zero does not work.

Directrix (directrix):

@ ChinaGurl --> If you need just one number go with GT's 2. It works. If you want an algebraic solution, that's something else.

I also gave algebraic solutions assuming x is integer. :)
