i know these new ways to study are very good and helpful, but you should not forget that a good book is your best friend always. in biochemistry, i think the best is Lehningers Principles of biochemistry.

I agree Lehningers Principles of biochemistry is an excellent book but hard for someone lacking the basics to understand, it covers much more but provides less pedagogic approach to them. I would recommend Harper's Illustrated Biochemistry, 28e as a "Gateway book".
