Long shot, but does anyone have any good ideas for what a self-employed lawyer could do with a social media campaign? I'm not asking what sites to use, but what goals I could accomplish with such a campaign.
Become a thought leader or recognized authority in a particular discipline. Utilize LI, blog, etc. to SHARE! Provide insights, perspective on discipline specific content or current events. GIVE others a reason to listen to you, foliow you and ultimately seek you out for gainful project work or employment. Being self-employed means YOU are your brand - be thoughtful, vocal and giving... this will translate to brand (YOU) recognition in your designated space and ultimately you'll be able to track the return on the invested time.
I would use a social media campaign to plan things like: 1) Marketing your business / self-promotion 2) Establishing yourself as an expert in something 3) Seeking referrals from friends, family, colleagues 4) Connecting with people who have similar interests for information exchange 5) Giving back to the community, such as by offering pro-bono assistance to certain groups, or by responding to questions posted in help forums 6) Creating a blog or similar place for content curation
