Answer it.... Q:How to get the RS configuration in cyclic compounds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u means R and S configuration right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i nvr work on cyclic compounds for R S naming

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u give me qn plz

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Whatever the compound be, you must be sure that it has chiral carbons. Only then you can name it by R-S configuration The steps should be essentially the same. That is: 1) First Find all the chiral carbons. 2) For each chiral carbon, number the four substituents as 1,2,3,4 using Incahn-Gold priority rules(do u know them?) 3) Bring the substituent of lowest priority downwards. Now, see the order of 1,2,3 of the remaining substituents. If it is clockwise, name it R, and if it is anticlockwise, name it S. Do you need an example to illustrate the above steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea and if no FG is added to all C in the ring means no chirality isntd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

point to be noted nw we need the qn acc to ur qn @yahad1

Do it in case of t his and xplain the same|dw:1331469144377:dw|
