To find electron affinity of Chlorine in Born-Haber cycle why sometime we divide by 2 or no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it depends but in born haber cycle its a rule dat only for 1 mole of gas the value is calculated

OpenStudy (rogue):

Yes, you divide by 2 since there are 2 moles of Cl- (g) and you want the affinity for 1 mol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgNe2xUdiwg
