The ends of a water trough have the shape of the region bounded by the graphs y=x^2 and y=4. To what depth must the trough be filled with water so that the force of the water exerted on either end of the trough is 779.423 lbs? (Water has a density of 62.5 lbs/ft^3. Both x and y are measured in feet. How do I start?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

starting with a picture is best

Alright. That's similar to my picture. Are we working in terms of x or y?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

doesnt really matter; but since the directions give x and y as standards lets assume x is horizon and y is vert

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean, are we using dx or dy when we integrate?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

now is the side considered the front and back flat panels?|dw:1331404596571:dw|
