(4.5 x 10^6) ÷ (3 x 10 ^-2)=1.5 x 10^4 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, when you minus a negative number, you add it. What you've done is 10^6 - 10^2, not 10^6-10^-2, which is 10^8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[10^{6} - 10^{2} = 10^{4}\] but \[10^{6} - 10^{-2} = 10^{8}\] 6 - 2 = 4 but 6 - -2 = 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure you multiply 4.5 and 3? I thought you minus them. If you calculate the question you get 150,000,000 which is the same as 1.5 * 10^8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow, I am stupid. Sorry about that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahah :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Spykez youre wrong!! 10⁶/10²=10⁴ !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, but when you're dividing them, you're essentially minusing the exponentials

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[10^{6}/10^{-2}=10⁶x10²=10⁸\]

x i mean *

I don't even this Isabella is even here :/
