Given A = {1, 2, 3, 4}, B = {4, 5, 6,}, and C = {2, 6, 7}. Evaluate each set a) A ∩ B b) A U C c) B U C d) (A U B) ∩ C e) A U (B U C) f) (A ∩ B) ∩ C g) (A ∩ B) U C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i)AnB is the set of values common to both sets A and B. So that gives us AnB={4}; since only 4 appears in both sets. ii)AuC is the set of all the elements in A and B; without repeating the elements. AuC={1,2,3,4,6,7} iii)In the same way, BuC={2,4,5,6,7} iv)First off, AuB={1,2,3,4,5,6}. So check for the elements common to this set and set C; and that gives (AuB)nC={2,6} v)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

v)first off, BuC={2,4,5,6,7}. So Au(BuC)={1,2,3,4,5,6,7}

the others follow the same pattern. hope that helps
