Actually, I was expecting a big TL;DR answer that identifies core similarities and differences between the OS classes, from the technical all the way to the philosophical.  :(

The core design of both systems especially the kernel. Windoews was designed as a single user system where as nix systems were designed as multi user systems from the wordf go
