lim x->inf (-1)^x * x why the limit doesn't exist here?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

The limit doesn't exist because of the \((-1)^x\) term. This forces the function to alternate between positive and negative numbers. So when x becomes large, you get a sequence of "large, negative large, large, negative large..." and so forth.
