posting pic Parallelogram FGHI on the coordinate plane below represents the drawing of a horse trail through a local park. In order to build a scale model of the trail, the drawing is enlarged on the coordinate plane. If two corners of the trail are at point A (0, 4) and point D (-6, -5), what is another point that could represent a corner of the trail?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (eyust707):

so the points A and D will corespond to F and I ..correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are the possible answers (12, -5) (9, -5) (6, -5) (3, -5)

OpenStudy (eyust707):

its (6, -5)

OpenStudy (eyust707):

would you like to know why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes plzz it will help me understand y

OpenStudy (eyust707):

ok so basically what theyve done is taken the shape on the top. and made it bigger on all side by the same amount

OpenStudy (eyust707):

if we figure out that amount that they have made it bigger by we can draw the rest of the shape

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh see i thought it was 9,-5

OpenStudy (eyust707):

well it could have easily been... but heres why its 6, -5

OpenStudy (eyust707):

from I to f went up 3

OpenStudy (eyust707):

from d to a went up 9

OpenStudy (eyust707):

so all they did was mutiply by 3

OpenStudy (eyust707):

from I to H is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay thank you soo much

OpenStudy (eyust707):

so 4 x 3 is 12...

OpenStudy (eyust707):

np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 6,-5 :)

OpenStudy (eyust707):

yep!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yaaa lol

OpenStudy (eyust707):

its so much better when you actualy get it =P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya thats y i like when ppl give me the answer and tell me y and how they got it cause im homeschooled and my teachers dont help me thank you i understand that alot more now
