b^5 • b^4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[b^5*b^4\]

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

when multiplying with the same base it stays the same! and when multiplying exponents u add them...so 5+4=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok \[b^9\]

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

:D good!

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

The rule states: a^2 + a^3 = a^2+3

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Sorry Multiplication

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

I think it makes sense if you write it out too: b^5 = b*b*b*b*b b^4 = b*b*b*b b^5 * b^4 = (b*b*b*b*b)*(b*b*b*b) = b*b*b*b*b*b*b*b*b = b^9 (9 b's multiplied together)
