Choose the equation of the line passing through the point (-2, 6) and parallel to y = 1/2x - 8. y = 1/2x + 7 y = 1/2x + 5 y = 2x + 7 y = 2x + 5 Choose the equation of the horizontal line that passes through the point (-8, -7). y = -8 y = -7 x = -8 x = -7

easy(fast) way to do this is... for the first problem, since the line has to be parallel, it has to be one of the choices with the same slope (1/2). There's only two of them on the list so plug in the point (-2, 6) in to each and you'll find it's y=1/2x+7. for the second problem, remember horizontal lines have equations as "y =" so this leaves only two. Since the point is (-8, -7), it has to be y = -7.
