It's not quite that simple, after intercourse women usually experience high levels of Oxytocin which is why they'll turn cuddly & warm afterwards.
Oxytocin & Prolaktin are the main hormone responsible for lactating, Oxytocin also aids in childbirth by dilutating the cervix.
I have read no conclussive study that supports the theory of oxytocin is a major component is the emotion love, i would recommend studying "love" from a pshycological perspective rather than a biochemical, you won't find a conclussive biochemical reason for love.
From what i've grasped the hormone can stimulate care for someone/something, but not prolonged care but rather a hormone induced temporary care.

no,oxytocin is pregnancy hormone! it causes violent contraction of uterine wall during parturition! it doesnt control emotions.

I don't know about humans but in case of cats oxyticin hormone is responsible for caring her kits...
