The Superfund is part of which U.S. government agency and why is the Superfund important?
The Superfund is part of the Environmental Protection Agency and is important because it's basically a predesignated fund used for toxic waste cleanup/disposal. More information can be found here: http://www.epa.gov/superfund/
Also, Superfund is a term used to describe the most contaminated places in the country. The "fund" was created to pay for cleanup of these sites, which often fell to the government after industry left waste sites abandoned. Superfund sites might include former toxic waste dumps, ammunitions disposal sites, industrial land, etc.
