roosevelts "big stick" diplomacy was his idea of "speak softly and carry big stick". He was showing his superiority to the rest of the world without saying anything. He flashed his "big stick" (the US NAVY) at other countries like japan. One example of this would be the great white fleet where Roosevelt sent his new and improved navy around the world simply to display his "big stick"'s power
