Which pair of terms contain opposite coefficients? 7x and –7x –7 and –7 7 and –7 7x and 7x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Coefficient means number a variable is multiplied by. 2x, 4y, -18a 2, 4, and -18 are all examples of coefficients. Knowing that, we can eliminate the middle two options since there are no variables. Since there are no variables, there can't be any coefficients. Normal numbers by themselves are called constants since their value does not change. Opposite means the other sign. Opposite of positive is negative. Of negative, positive. Looking at our options: 7x and -7x 7x and 7x The coefficients are 7, -7 and 7, 7. The values are only opposites in the first example, so the answer is: 7x and -7x
