use factoring to find the zeros of the function. use the zeros to find the vertex of its graph y=x^2-32x-144

OpenStudy (mertsj):

0=(x-36)(x+4)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

x=36, x=-4

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The vertex is half way between the zeros so 36+(-4)=32. Half of that is 16. The x coordinate of the vertex is 16. Replace x with 16 to find the y coordinate of the vertex.
