Find the value of x and y so that trangle ABC is congruent to triangle DEF by HL.
Do you have an idea on how to begin?
Yes i have an idea let me write it out
Okay. We need to know which sides correspond so that their algebraic lengths can be set equal.
Can you write out the steps like baby steps im having a hard time kinda making out how to do this like the last problem :(
I really want to learn this and get it down pat if you dont mind teaching me
I will help you with that but I'm still trying to understand how to do that and be within the new guidelines here at OS-Math. There's a no answer only policy. Did you see it? I'm not saying you want only the answers. I'm saying I'm trying to figure out how to proceed. http://blog.openstudy.com/2012/03/13/mission-driven-learning-for-all/
Let's just do it and if I say too much, then I'll be told.
Question: What does the H mean in HL Postulate?
Work with me. I have already worked out the problem.
Ok sorry mom asked me to get the dishes im back
No problem.
Here's where we are: What does the H mean in HL Postulate? Or, what does H stand for?
hypotenuse?
for hypotenuse leg
I think I got it
hold on let me write it out
Okay, Post your work and let's compare. I'll say that side AB corresponds to side DE. That would make 5x + 2 = 8x - 10. So, I have to solve that for x. Your Task: What is the equation to solve for y?
That's what I got for x. And, now y.
So its B x = 4, Y = 5
Yes, HL Postulate is for right triangles and states that if the hypotenuse and leg of one right triangle are congruent to the corresponding parts of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent. So, by computing values of x to make that happen, the triangles are congruent by HL.
How's that?
Thats great :) ps so whats with the new guidelines, i missed them

ok stay here so we can chat xD im going to go read them
While you are reading, read this: http://openstudy.com/users/farmdawgnation#/updates/4f5f9ac6e4b038e071803771
Hmm from what i read There saying show the way to how you solved the problem don't just give answer and if they need it help them and no sniping
Its ok to give the answer as long as you try and teach them how you got it... there also saying give it last because they will just move on if you give the answer right away
Nah my Cpu is at 100f when I play bf3 its 125f and when i idle its 90 so idk no to hot
dont worry all computers have a safty switch that will turn off the computer if it gets to hot check out a program called "core temp
what chat thread
@Directrix
Thanks for the info on the computer heat. I'll check out the "heat" on my machine. >>what chat thread Look at lower right corner of your screen. The color is usually green or orange.
