3b-2=7b+4
The equals sign is the middle of a see saw. Everything you do to one side must be done to the other side in order to keep things balanced. If you do something to one side, you must do it to the other. The goal of those kinds of problems is typically to solve for the variable, in this case x. To do that, you "undo" everything that was done to x. What do I mean? Remember PEMDAS. It tells you what order to do things in. When solving equations, you need to worry about the REVERSE. SADMEP. First, you look for any subtraction or addition. Then you reverse it by adding or subtracting. Then you do division or multiplication, exponents, parentheses, etc... Once you isolate the variable (get it all by itself), then you will have solved the equation. 3b - 2 = 7b + 4 + 2 3b = 7b + 6 -7b -4b = 6 /-4 b = (6/-4) = 3/-2
Thank you. I am terrible with algebra.
