Find the perimeter of a rectangle if three of its vertices are (5, −2), (−3, −2), and (−3, 3).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The perimeter is the sum of the four lengths, side1 + side2 + side3 + side4. In a rectangle, the opposite sides are equal length. So graph the three points using graph paper or geogebra. http://www.geogebra.org/cms/ Count the distance in the y direction between the two points, (-3,-2) and (-3,3), that will be the width of your rectangle. Now count the distance in the x direction between the two points, (5,-2) and -3,-2), that will be the length of your rectangle.
