For this essay choose one of the stories from Units 1-7 of your literature lessons. Imagine that you are the author of the story and using first person point of view introduce yourself, your story, and state the theme of your story. Then explain how you (as the author) conveyed that theme in your work. Stay true to what you know of the author's personality and beliefs. Be sure to use direct quotes and support from the story to enhance your essay and give it credibility. You cannot get full credit without providing support from the text. Your essay should be 1-2 paragraphs in length and have at least 3 specific pieces of evidence that support your answer. Please help!

I want to do Edgar Allan Poe, but I don't know how I can explain what he thinks, any suggestions?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Since it's Poe, and he's kinda creepy, is this a good start for the paragraph? Hello. My name is Edgar Allan Poe. You might know me from my famous, yet appalling stories. Despite the content of my stories, people still learn to appreciate the way I weave certain ideas into the stories and poems I have made. For instance, my story, The-Tell-Tale-Heart. What an incredible story that was! The whole story was themed after how close love and hate really was.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it mandatory to do Edgar Allan Poe??

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

No it isn't

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

I can do other ones, but I figured Poe might be the easiest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He's basically a poet. So why are you interested in writing about him??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you do Leo Tolstoy?? Or Anton Chekhov or Ruskin Bond???

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Umm, let me check

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

the author of "The Glass of Milk,", Manuel Rojas Langston Hughes

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

John Griffith

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

James Thurbur

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Henri-Rene-Albert Guy

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Shirley Jackson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then, Edgar Allan Poe would be the easiest because I don't know anything about the other writers that you have mentioned.

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Frank Stockton

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

William Goldings

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

anmd that's it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there had been any Russian or Indian writer then I could have provided you with some information.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am sorry. Despite my desire to help, I couldn't help you.

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

ooh ok, that's ok :) Thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are welcome.. By the way, where do you study??

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

For the starting, I don't think that Poe would narrate his achievements in the very beginning. Start with where he was born, a very brief account of his life etc. By the way, which story of Poe are you working on?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

The-Tell-Tale-Heart

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

I can only do 1-2 paragraphs so I don't want to do a whole biography and not give her what she wants :/

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Lol..You are writing an essay of just 1-2 paragraphs?

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

I am not asking you to write a biography..Just one or two sentences that explain what was happening in his life, when he was writing the story. Or better still, what inspired or prompted him to write this story. You know, it serves as a nice background for the essay.:)

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Yea

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Hmm, I see what you mean. I'll see what I can do. Was the paragraph I had good though?
