I'd say almost anything by Jon Stewart employs verbal irony. Whenever he says anything in which his ostensible meaning differs from the actual meaning, that's irony. In his hands, irony is a tool for both criticism and laughter.

You might also try Oscar Wilde's play _The Importance of Being Earnest_, though that may not seem as immediately funny to you. You have to become involved with the characters and the plot, and the humor is more arch.
