OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
(x^2-64)=(x-8)(x+8), so common denominator is: (x-8)(x+8)
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
((x-8)+16)/((x+8)(x-8))=1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh thank you, so now I solve it?
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
yea

Ok ill try, and you can check it for me :)
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0=-x^2-x-72 is what i got so far...
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
x-8+16=x^2-64
x+8=(x-8)(x+8)
1=x-8
x=9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
How did you get second part? And thank you.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
multiply both sides by (x-8)(x+8)
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
((x-8)+16)/((x+8)(x-8))=1
((x-8)+16)=(x+8)(x-8)
x+8=(x+8)(x-8)
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
divide both sides by x+8:
1=x-8
add 8 to both sides:
9=x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Isnt the answer -8,9?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i brought over -x-8 to the side with x^2-64 making it a trinomial, then I found those two answers.
