What are the various uses of radioactivity in healthcare? What are the future trends in healthcare with respect to the use of radioactivity?
Radioactivity is major in healthcare and continues to grow especially in the 21st century. Right now sudies of medicine are using things such as MRI and X-ray where they send high frequency waves of light (at safe low dosages) to the person while the light goes through tissue and reflects off calcium (bone). Thats one example. Another is tomography, high frequency light is emitted while numerous pictures are taken of a brain from different points of view to get a full 3d look of the brains activity. MRIs consist from what i believe is the detection of hydrogen (water) and can map out brain activity via hydrogen activity. These are many examples of high frequency radiation being manipulated while scientists get an idea of whats going on inside objects (human beings)
