What are the STEPS for foiling this? (√x+6 -2)^2 **** The -2 is not under the radical!
Easiest way to do this is to set up a 2x2 grid. On the top of column 1 you have Sqrt(x+6). Top of column 2 you have -2. On the left of row 1 you have Sqrt(x+6) and on the left of row 2 you have -2. Just like a multiplication table you find the product where the columns and rows intersect. Afterwords, combine like terms and simplify.
So the terms would be, x+6, -2√X+2, -2√X+2, and 4?
-2Sqrt(x+6)
Oh, yes sorry. I just copied it wrong. :) Thanks!
Do this with one that you already know how to FOIL and you'll see how simple it is. Especially when you get complex. This way you can FOIL anything without having to worry about keeping up with what goes where. Good luck.
