Theocracy is a government run off of religion. That is why it is called a Theo-cracy. Theo greek term for the english word theology and Cracy the greek word for government. For example, Saudi Arabia is a theocracy because they follow the Islamic law. Even though Israel is under the influence of the Jewish religion it is still democratic. Democratic is the opposite of theocracy because instead of making decisions based of off a theory or religion, decisions are made by the people.
