(x+6)(x-6) expanded gives x^2 + 6x - 6x - 36. This simplifies to x^2 - 36 and so is a difference of two squares. (x+6)(x+6) expanded gives x^2 + 6x + 6x + 36 which is x^2 + 12x + 36. The differences between the two expressions are that the first has no 'x' co-efficients whereas the second one does and in the constant term, the signs are changed.
