√(9x+67=x+5=)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u mean \[\sqrt{9x+67} = x+5 \] find x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now you need to square both sides so it will be \[9x+67 = (x+5)^{2}\] \[9x +67 = x ^{2} + 10x + 25\] \[x ^{2} + x -42 = 0\] I guess it is clear now :) note that you need to get rid of square roots in most problems by squaring you can get rid of it
