Observe the composite figure below. The bottom shape is a cube with base edges of 6 inches. The top shape is a right pyramid with a height of 4 inches. What is the surface area of this composite figure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Figure vv

OpenStudy (hoblos):

basically surface area of cube = 6*side^2 surface area of pyramid= 2*slant height*side +side^2 but notice here that they have one face in common so surface area of cube = 5*side^2 surface area of pyramid= 2*slant height*side and then you add them note: slant height^2 = 4^2+3^2 slant height = 5

OpenStudy (hoblos):

can you calculate it by yourself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would the answer be 240?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

yes it is 240

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (hoblos):
