pie is rational no or irrational no?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

irrational. Pi never ends and never repeats.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

irrational

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it can be written in the form of p/q i.e its value is 22/7 then how is it irrational?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Because that is an approximation, not an exact value. Irrational numbers can not be expressed exactly in decimal form. For example, the number whose square is 2 is EXACTLY the square root of 2 \[\sqrt{2}\] but its decimal approximation is 1.414
