Which is not a function? Answer A mapping diagram is shown. The domain column contains the numbers 3, 5, 7, and fourteen. The range column contains the numbers 4, 4, 4 and 4. A line connects 3 and 4. A line connects 5 and 4. A line connects 7 and 4. A line connects fourteen and 4. The set of ordered pairs: 6 comma 6, 7 comma 7, 6 comma 8, and 5 comma 9. A table of x and y-values. When x is zero, y is forty-six. When x is 2, y is 4. When x is 4, y is 2. When x is 6, y is 6. The set of ordered pairs: 5 comma zero, 8 comma eleven, eleven comma 2, and fourteen comma 1.

The second one is not a function because the same number gets mapped to two different values.. "The set of ordered pairs: 6 comma 6, 7 comma 7, 6 comma 8, and 5 comma 9."

Thank you!

That was what I thought but I got confused

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

(6, 6) and (6, 8) in particular.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one IS a function, even if 4 appears many times in the range column, it is the same. It is ok to have the same correspondant in the range for multiple values in the domain. The second one is NOT a function, because 6 has TWO correspondants, which is illegal for a function. The 3rd and the 4th are functions too.
