Do you think the Internet has had a positive or negative influence on democracy?

I would say the internet has had a positive influence on democracy. It allows for the instant and rapid spread of information, so it increases accessibility to information, and creates a more aware public. Also, it can be a medium for discussion, debate, activism, voting, etc. It can also be used to spread democratic values like the freedom of expression, freedom of speech, human rights, etc. All in all, it allows for a more 'globalized' society where 'the people' can all connect and share ideas.

Of course all this is debatable and one can say that it is also a huge propaganda machine used by corporations and the wealthy to teach people to think a certain way, eventually and effectively brainwashing the masses.
