I'm writing a paper on the Scottsboro Trials. What are the things I need to cite?

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

You need to cite anything that you quote directly: Ransdall (1931) states, "Officials and residents of Scottsboro maintained that the crowd was peaceful and showed no evidence of lynching spirit" (para. 14). You need to cite anything that you paraphrase from your sources: The trials began over the alleged rape of Victoria Price (Ransdall, 1931). You need to cite anything that is not considered common knowledge: The Scottsboro trials began April 7, 1931 (Ransdall, 1931). I don't know what format you are writing in. The above examples are in APA format.

What format are you citing in? MLA, APA, Chicago etc?
