A map shows the following scale of 1/25000. What would real distance in kilometres by 6cm on the map?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

1cm on the map corresponds to 25000cm in reality so 6cm would correspond to 25000*6 = 150000cm to convert from cm to km you divide by 100000 so 150000cm = 1.5 km

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's one twenty-five thousandths the actual distance, so the real life distance would be twenty-five thousand times that. 25000 * 6 = 150 000 Converting 150 000 cm to meters -> divide by 100. 1500 m to km -> divide by 1000 1.5 km
