She goes up 2 flights of stairs to put a load of laundry in a washing machine on that floor. Then she goes down 5 flights to borrow a book from a friend. Next, she foes up 8 flights to visit another friend who is ill. How many flights up or down does Lynnette now have to go to take her laundry out of the washing machine?

so u are starting a 0 and u go up 2(laudry)
then u come down 5, so u are 3 floors down from where u started
then we up 8, so that is  5 floors from the start(8-3)  and then we know that we passed the laudry at 2 but we are 3 floor up (5-2)
