Differentiate: g(x) = (1+4x)^5 * (3 + x - x^2)^8

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[y'=(1+4x)^5(8)(3+x-x^2)^7(-2x+1)+(3+x-x^2)(5)(1+4x)^4(4)\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

There is a 4 that is cut off. You probably need to clean that up a bit.

Well I got as far as 8 (4x+1)^5 (-2x+1) (-x^2+x+3)^7 + 20 (4x+1)^4 (-x^2+x+3)^8, but the textbook's answer is 4(1+4x^4 (3+x-x^2)^7 (17+9x-21x^2) .....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry first term is 4(1+4x)^4

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It's the same thing.
