I have the themes of Farewell to Manzanar but I need to put them in a lesson format like "don't judge a book by its cover" or "you should always listen to your parents" The themes of this story are injuctice/racism, overcoming obstacles, tolerance and family values of what matters the most. I like the last one the most so how would i say it.

respect your mother and father and your life will be long and prosperous

So, you're looking for a proverb. The sort of thing that appears as the "moral of the story" in one line at the end of, say, an Aesop's fable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not familiar with this story. Looking for a summary now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, like "Family above all else" or something like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or -- "United we stand, divided we fall"? That's a real one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmm, I've just skimmed through the summary, and that last one doesn't really fit. I don't know the story well -- racing through the summary doesn't really cut it -- and so can't really think of one that fits.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell you what, here's a list of some common English proverbs for you to look through. Maybe you can find one that fits. Or maybe you can find one that you see you could alter to fit the story, making up your own proverb in other words.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@angeldreamgurl @Redwood Girl it doesn't have to be a moral already said, like the point is to make it up. like whats the lesson of the story because i have toe details later on to support it

injustice and overcoming obstacles.

So you will have to come up with this one on your own, after thinking about the story's action and the consequences of that action. Even if I could come up with some perfectly splendid proverb, my doing that does not help you out in this assignment. The point is to think through this exercise and to come up with something. If you went to the gym and someone else lifted the weights for you, who would be the one building muscle mass? Not you, but that other guy. It's the same thing with the brain! If you don't do the work, your brain is not enriched and restructured. But you might get some good ideas by scanning through the list of proverbs that are already out there, to sort of jump-start your thinking. Or to help you think in those patterns.

(p.s. Not being rude, but I have to dash.)
