You saw a T shirt worth R97 and since U dont have cash, U borrowed R50 from ur Mom n R50 from ur Dad, So u have R100 since d shirt is R97 So U have R3 left, U returned R1 to ur Mum n R1 to ur Dad and you left R1 for urself Now you owe ur Mum R49 and ur Dad R49 so 49+ 49 =98 plus R1 wit U = R99 SO WHERE IS THE MISSING R1? known trick question ;) there's a flaw in the logic. You owe your mum 49, and you owe your dad 49, plus the 2 you already gave back (one to mum, one to dad) gives you 100 in total. the fact that you still have 1 doesn't matter

Your flaw is in the fact that you are ignoring the dollar in your pocket. If you had split the change evenly, you would have been giving them 1.50 each. Which would imply that you would owe them 48.5 each 48.5 +1.5 = 50. 50 + 50 = 100.
