at this point, do I subtract 7x from both sides? On this equation: 3x +3 =7x-14-3 I don't know my next step for sure, Denise:(

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Rather than 7x, I would advise subtracting 3x from both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x+3-7x=7x-7x-14-3 -4x+3=-17

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

That way you get a positive x on one side. Subtracting 7x also works, but it doesn't look as pretty.
