hi everybody. i would like to ask when considering the shm in u-tube, how will the starting displacement of water affect the time period and the damping constant of the motion??? thx for helping:)

it will be a differential equation with an additional term -Bv in addition to the standard terms (x dot times a coefficient) +( x double dot) - (Bv)=0. depending on coefficient B (which will be determined by nature of liquid),the damping will take place.more the value of coefficient B faster be the damping and then there will be strong damping even with large value of starting amplitude.(staring amplitude is proportional to gravitational potential energy which is proportional to kinetic energy which is is proportional to velocity which will be proportional the -Bv term)
