Alphasia headed for the rodeo at 9 am at 30 mph. At 11 am bubba headed after her at 60 mph. What time was it when Bubba caught Alphasia?

hello?

OpenStudy (mysesshou):

Assuming they started same place... Distance = Rate*Time Alphasia_distance = Bubba_distance Alph has 2 hours ahead of bubba, so Alph is 60 miles ahead of bubba when bubba starts. solve for the time 60mi + (30mi/h)*time = (60mi/h)*time 60mi = (30mi/h)*time time = 60mi/(30mi/hr) = 2 hr Then to check, Alph initial 2 hours gives 60miles, plus 2 more hours = 60 more miles, totaling 120miles. Bubba given 2hours is 60mph*2hr = 120 miles. so they both travel 120 miles. Alph travels from 9am until 1pm Bubba travels from 11am - 1pm they meet up at 1pm. I think it is right, hopefully someone proofs this :)
