Since angle ACB = 45 degrees, AB = BC = 16 inches. AB = AD + BD AD = AB - BD AD = 16 - BD BD/BC = tan(30) BD = BC * tan(30) = 16*tan(30) AD = 16 - BD Calculate and you get 6.76 inches
