can someone help me pleez.... in how many ways can a subcommittee of 5 ppl be chosen from a Congressional committee of 18 ppl?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18nCr5 = Answer. I believe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u explain a little more plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the order doesn't matter in this problem, that's why we use combination instead of permutation. The equation for combination is nCr. N= total amount of people. R= how many people you actually want.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and 18nCr5 is calculated as \[\frac{n!}{r!*(n-r)!}\]
