Among the Bacteria and Archaea, which process produces results that are most similar to the results of sexual reproduction in eukaryotes and why? Answer Binary fission, because it is used to produce identical daughter cells Conjugation, because one cell trades genetic material directly with another cell Transduction, because genes are added to the cell through an intermediary Transformation, because the cell picks up genes from its environment Wouldn't the answer be binary fission since that's how bacteria reproduce

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no way, that is the o nly invalid option. bacteria do not reproduce thsi way, o nly through cell divsion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then would it be transduction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would say conjugation. two cells need to have very intimate contact in order to put together ther DNA and the following process of recombination of genes can happen

Based upon the answer choices you gave us with the descriptions that you have next to them, the only one that comes close to a sperm cell joining with an egg cell to mix their genetic material to produce an offspring would be conjugation, and that's because you say that one cell trades its genetic material with the other.
