Pls HELP!!! The dimensions of a rectanglar doorway are 200cm by 90cm. Can a table top with a diameter of 210 cm be carried through the doorway?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first thing to do is to find the hypotenuse of the rectangular doorway given the 2 sides, if the hypotenuse is greater than 210 cm which is the diameter of the table top, then it can pass through. .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still dont get it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the hypotenuse of the door is 219.32 cm therefor, the table top can pass through. .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see this illustration. .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1332374821625:dw| the table top can't pass vertically on the door considering that the diameter of the table top is greater than the height of the doorway. . therefore, .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1332374895294:dw| use the hypotenuse of the doorway, sinc the hypotenuse is greater than the diameter of the table top, then it can pass through. . do you know pythagorean theorem? i used this method. .

Thats what we are doing in Algebra...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it clear to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Uh...not really Can you set it up with the numbers on the sides of angles.?..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you get (not rounded off) C=219.317122?
