OpenStudy (anikate):

why does Persephone have to stay with Hades forever?

OpenStudy (anikate):

I have another question after this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

According to legend, she stays in Hades six months of the year (winter) because she ate 6 pomegranate seeds. She returns to mother earth and springtime and summer for the other 6 months of the year. If she had eaten 12 seeds, we'd all live in Slobvinskiya

OpenStudy (anikate):

what is Slobvinskiya?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ignore that part lol it's just myth as to that would be the name of "earth" if she'd eat 12 seeds

OpenStudy (anikate):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what grade is this anyway?

OpenStudy (anikate):

7th grade

OpenStudy (anikate):

one more question

OpenStudy (anikate):

this is about the theft of persephone

OpenStudy (anikate):

what natural happening does this myth explain? Describe it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It explains why nature grows fruits, leafs, and all that other stuff we can't live without. It explains how nature in general recycles itself on a day to day basis and how we adapt to the environment around us.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It also explains our seasons. When Persephone comes out from The Underworld, everything begins to blossom and grow because Demeter is happy to have her daughter back and it is springtime and eventually turns to summer. When she must go back to the Underworld though, everything begins to die (fall) and Demeter is unhappy, causing winter.
