Hey can someone please help me??????? Figure ABCD is a rectangle. The length of segment AE is (4x – 3) units and the length of segment EC is (x + 3) units.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

hint hint - AE=EC hint hin.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

BD is same as AC that's AE+EC = 4x-3+x+3 = 5x .....(i) and we know AE=EC as diagonals bisect each other in a rectangle so 4x-3=x+3 so, x=2 substitute in equation (i), and get BD=10!!

Directrix (directrix):

The diagonals of a rectangle are congruent. Because a rectangle is a parallelogram, the diagonals bisect each other. The upshot of that is the following: AE = EC = DE = EB. AE = EC 4x - 3 = x + 3 3x = 6 x = 2 AE = 4(2) - 3 = 8 - 3 = 5 CE = 2 + 3 = 5 AC = AE + EC = 5 + 5 = 10 BD = 10 because AC = BD because the diagonals of a rectangle are congruent.
