OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let f(x)=sin(x)^2-cos(x) on the interval (0,2pi). Where on this interval does f increase and where does it decrease?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

remember the trig identity, sin^2 (x)=1-2sin(2x)

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

make sinx2 as 1-cosx2. then you have quadratic type of equation. differentiate to find graph and monotonic periods...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i solving for x?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Simplifity it into what apoorvk said, then derive it. after you derive it, solve for x. WHen x is positive, f increases, when x is negative, f decreases.
