The back was sterilely prepped and draped in the usual fashion, and two paramedian skin incisions were opened with a #10 blade. Is this a complete, run-on, or sentence fragment?
I think it is a comma splice, b ut that is one of my weaknesses. @Redwood Girl
Oh my goodness, definitely one of my weaknesses.
This is just a compound sentence: two complete sentences joined with a coordinating conjunction (in this case, "and"). The back was sterilely prepped and draped in the usual fashion = one full sentence Two paramedian skin incisions were opend with a #10 blade = another full sentence
It sounded fine to me, but I was looking for there to be an error and that was all I could come up with.
Well, there often is that error lurking, isn't there? :) Here's the comma splice version of that compound sentence -- The back was sterilely prepped and draped in the usual fashion, two paramedian skin incisions were opened with a #10 blade. And here's the run-on version -- The back was sterilely prepped and draped in the usual fashion two paramedian skin incisions were opened with a #10 blade.
